Sumaridge Pinot noir 2008

Pinot Noir 2008

A serious wine showing a deep ruby colour with classic elegance in fruit expression. Dark berry and forest fruit aromas combine with a subtle oak character which lends a smoky spiciness to the well integrated palate. This is further complemented by smooth tannins, which add complexity, lingering to a velvety finish. It has texture, poise, elegance and layers of complexity which will continue to unveil and evolve, as its flavour ages gracefully to peak 23 years maturation and then more.

Sumaridge Chardonnay 2009

Chardonnay 2009

This Chardonnay strives to present the delicate fruit expression of the grape, underpinned by the benefits of a subtle presence of well gauged oaking to show off the inherent qualities and a reflection in its purest sense, of this place, Sumaridge. The typically lively minerality derived from our soils and cool maritime air, combine effortlessly with lime, quince and citrus blossom as fresh flavours, which augment the, rich mouth feel that lingers long on the aftertaste. A versatile wine best enjoyed with most white meat dishes as well as creamy pasta meals.

The Guesthouse:

The owners of Sumaridge Holly and Simon were keen that others should be able to share with them the beauty of the estate, and they transformed a former farm cottage into a gorgeous, secluded, five-room lodge.
Sumaridge Wine Estate Guestlodge
Sumaridge Wine Estate Guestlodge Living Room
The main lodge has four en-suite bedrooms, all with brushed-oak flooring and four poster beds; each is gently themed to an indigenous flower. The very spacious rooms also boast private patios or balconies. There is also a separate wheel chair friendly suite. The house is extremely child friendly. The décor has a contemporary feel with just a touch of Africa.
The lodge has a spacious, open plan, living and dining room with a fireplace for cold winter nights. There is a fully fitted kitchen with - not surprisingly - a well stocked wine fridge!  Use the same contact info for the restaurant to book your accommodation.

CREATION
FAMED FOOD AND WINE PAIRING

Creation Vineyards, Cellars and Tasting Room

In 2002, a vibrant team invested their innovative expertise to create a wine selection of great distinction. This is a story that originated in the famous winelands of Neuchâtel in Switzerland, where two young Swiss winemakers and viticulturists forged a close friendship during the late 1990s. Enter Jean-Claude Martin and Christoph Kaser who at the time were employed at the ancient wineries of Grillette and Hôpital de Soleure.

As fate would have it, Jean-Claude married the South African-born Carolyn Finlayson in 1999. Carolyn is the daughter of one of the Cape’s most highly acclaimed wine pioneers: Walter Finlayson of Glen Carlou fame. During frequent visits to his wife’s home turf, Jean-Claude had the opportunity of assessing the winegrowing conditions here on the sunny southern point of Africa. Gradually the idea of owning their own piece of land and moving to South Africa was born.  In 2002, that dream became a reality when the Martin’s acquired the land, known today as Ceation; the deal became even sweeter, when Christoph Kaser and his wife, Heidi Kellerhals Kaser, co-invested in the property, in 2005.

Creation Pinot noir
Creation Pinot Noir:
Deep ruby in colour, gleaming and inviting in the glass. The intensely fragrant bouquet shows a mélange of red berry aromas, elegant vanilla and a whiff of wood spice. These follow through on the full-bodied palate where soft, supple tannins contribute to the dense structure. A superbly balanced wine with a lingering, memorable aftertaste.

Creation Chardonnay 2011

Creation Chardonnay:
Straw yellow with attractive glints of green. On the nose, glorious layers of sun-kissed pear and peach are enhanced by fresh minerality and a hint of piquant vanilla. The full-bodied palate is in perfect harmony: generously fruity and subtly spicy, with well-judged acidity contributing excellent balance and a lively, lingering aftertaste.
Creation Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Creation Sauvignon Blanc:
Pale straw yellow in colour with twinkling flashes of green. A superbly balanced wine beckoning with aromas of tropical fruit, elegant elderflower and interesting, minerally whiffs. These follow through on the full-bodied palate where crisp, well-integrated acidity adds to the allure and leads to a lingering, memorable aftertaste.

Treat yourself to Creation’s innovative food and wine pairing on the terrace, with its scenic views, and don’t miss out on those scrumptious “antipasti” platters!
