Kritzinger Architects won the “Best Single Residence Award” for the design of Makana House at The African Property Awards 2012. The house is named after the legendary Xhosa Chief Makana and is located on a farm overlooking the Bushmans River.

 Award-winning Cape Town architects Jed Kritzinger and Julia Abell founded the practice in 2010 following a decade of international experience working with renowned British architect Norman Foster. Jed and Julia met in London in 1995 while working on a number of award-winning projects including the British Museum, Imperial College and Trafalgar Square. After travelling the world together, they returned to South Africa in 2005 when Jed was invited back as lead architect on the new Cape Town Airport, becoming CEO of the practice in 2007.
