AWARD WINNING FINE ARTS PHOTOGRAPHER

Paul van Schalkwyk a native of Namibia was born in 1955, and in 1962, he took his first picture and instantly lost his heart to the mystical world of photography.   In 1964, Paul boarded a private plane for the first time which ultimately leads to his first solo flight in 2002. Since then he has logged more than   1 000 hours in the sky in constant pursuit to capture, his interpretation, of that “god’s eye” view of the world.

TRAVEL SOUTH AFRICA ON R320 THE FAMED HERMANUS WINE ROUTE

The picturesque “Heaven and Earth Valley” has been firmly established on the wine tourism map boasting a line-up of approximately 15 wine cellars; I spent two days exploring almost all of them, and will be doing two separate posts to cover it all.  As per usual Travel and Trade South Africa, leaves few stones unturned to provide our readers with the best possible images; because we truly believe in the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

COWHIDE RUGS AND FURNITURE AS WELL AS LEATHER - AT PHASES AFRICA

These ottomans and all other product in this post are handmade by an artist in South Africa. They are all constructed by cutting each piece by hand the individual piece of hide is then laid out to formulate a pattern, followed by stitch-holes that are punched around each component’s perimeter before, hand-stitched with waxed cotton thread into a single tapestry. Please note: In the making of the rugs each individual piece of cowhide is adhered to a rubber backing first, before the stitch-holes are punched.

A CAR PHOTOGRAPHER RATED THE BEST IN THE WORLD IN HIS FIELD

Famed photographer and author Scott Kelby listed Stephan Cooper as one of “The Best five photographers you might not have heard of” I am proud to say I can call this photographer a friend.

You may wonder how it came to be that Travel and Trade SouthAfrica, a blog about all things South African decided to post an article on Stephan; considered “one of the world’s greatest car photographers”.  The answer is simply; our “motorcar category” is extremely popular with our readers, Stephan is an ex-patriot of South Africa, and what’s more, he has been married to Sue for 25 years, and she is 100% South African and a dear friend of mine.  So with no further ado... I present Stephan Cooper to you.

Nomads of Maasai-land
I love a good picture, but would I submerge myself into malaria invested waters and wait 270 hours for the perfect picture, I cannot even imagine it?  But then I also have never been  sought after by high profile publications like; National Geographic, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Africa Geographic Magazine, AfricaBirds and Birding Magazine, Travel Africa Magazine, and television companies like BBC – UK as well as NBC – USA, just to name a few.  However, photographer Greg du Toit knows what all the above feels like.....
