JOHANNESBURG SEEN THROUGH A CINEMATOGRAPHER'S LENSE

I arrived in Johannesburg yesterday a stop over before my 7 day photo safari in Kruger National Park. Searched for hours to find a great video of Johannesburg. I think I found something you'll enjoy for it's visually pleasing. Will report back here hopefully with some great images of the Big 5 from Kruger.

SOUTH AFRICA BEST IN THE WORLD│WINE TOURISM

“Wine tourism is better developed in South Africa than any country we know. Most wineries have excellent tasting facilities, and many have superb restaurants with spectacular mountain vineyard views offering the special wild game and seafood of the country. Most wineries practice sustainable viticulture and actively protect the Cape’s unique flora, and visitors can combine tasting wine with viewing the protea, fynbos, and renosterbos that constitute the world’s smallest plant kingdom" International Wine Review
In honor of this announcement, Travel And Trade South Africa, thought it would be apropo to feature Steenberg Hotel and Winery a great example of South Africa's "wine tourism."

ELEPHANTS │HELP SAVE THEM │SIGN PETITION

Urgent:
Elephants are being killed for ivory. While elephants have some protection through the United Nations Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), several African nations regularly request that CITES Conference of the Parties allow further sales of ivory from existing stockpiles. Enter: IFAW mobilise their supporters to demand politicians stop the ivory trade and support elephant protection efforts, and now need each of us to DO OUR PART

VINTAGE AND CLASSIC MOTORCARS

Buick Riviera 1972
In the 1970’s, when American styling could be described as “generic”, the Buick Riviera with its sharply pointed boat tail was definitely unusual. It was also indecently fast for its day, although that year was hampered by more stringent emission standards. As a consequence, the 1972 model was somewhat slower than its predecessor.

SOUTH AFRICA’S MOST BELOVED PHOTOGRAPHER OBIE OBERHOLZER

“Few SA artists can productively be called raconteurs, as in a skilful teller of anecdotes. Most are simply too glum – solemn, too – when spinning yarns around their work. If only more artists, in particular photographers, could be like Obie Oberholzer.”

“I love to travel and look – to look at people and places and things. To journey somewhere, to watch big things get smaller, mingle, change hue and disappear. To look so far that it hurts . . . and smell Africa.  There’s freedom in not knowing quite where you’re going – I mean, what’s another 100 kilometers if you’re making your way towards Swartwitpensbokfonteinberg?”
