TRAVEL SOUTH AFRICA EAT AND DRINK IN STYLE

Let’s eat I’m starving after spending countless hours at the “Franschhoek Car Museum.” Those cars where just indescribable! If you missed the post, you can find it here under my “car category” or in “archives”. Before we continue I need to apologize to my readers and the residents of Francshhoek for having misspelling the name of their town in “Vintage Cars South Africa”.

Pierneef รก La Motte the name of the Restaurant, situated on the spectacular wine estate of “La Motte” right here in Franschhoek, is where we going to dine tonight (they're not open every night).  And if we rush, we may even get a wine tasting in before the tasting room closes.  So without further delay, feast your eyes on the scenery, and I’ll see you on page 2 of this post. Where I’ll continue with excerpts from Chris von Ulmenstein’s review, as well as more images of the restaurant, food and award winning wines.

“The Pierneef name and theme comes from the priceless collection of 44 oils and other works by JH Pierneef (1886 - 1957), which La Motte bought from Pierneef’s 82-year old daughter Marita, who now lives in the United Kingdom."  The work is displayed in a special new building, housing the Pierneef Museum.   "Given that Pierneef is synonymous with the pinnacle of South African art, La Motte honoured the artist by naming the restaurant after him, to demonstrate that they wish to follow his high standards."

"The menu is short and sweet, with a choice of 5 starters, 6 mains and 6 desserts."
